Second Home and Holiday Home Insurance
Holiday homes require specialist insurance because they are generally left unoccupied for longer periods putting them at greater risk of damage or theft. Other factors also come into play, they may be of non-standard construction, such as a thatched cottage, or could even be in a location that carries greater risk of flooding. There may be substantial outbuildings or a swimming pool to think about, plus holiday homes are often rented out for some of the time, which is another important consideration in terms of the getting the right insurance.
At Flint we work with you to understand your needs, we want your holiday getaway to be just that – somewhere that you can fully relax in the knowledge that your second home is properly covered. Your insurance is tailored to you, we look at your circumstances and then make recommendations for the right cover. Flint will always try to find multiple insurers to compare terms in order to get you the best deal.
Depending on your situation your holiday home could form part of your high value home insurance and would be insured as part of your property portfolio. Alternatively it can be covered separately, as required.
There is also a difference between holiday home and second home, usually dependent on how you use each property. Speak to your Flint account handler who will help you decide on the right policy for your needs.
