Claims Count - Richard Naylor

Richard Naylor is a busy man, since his appointment in September he has continued to widen his remit; making the claims function an integral part of how fleet cover is handled at Flint.

For larger fleets this means liaising with fleet managers from the insurance outset, introducing himself in order to work together on these key areas:

  • Claims history
  • Effective implementation of accident prevention
  • Claims reporting – the insured's procedures and processes
  • Vehicle replacement, garage and repair costs

Ultimately the most important point is that we work in close partnership with policyholders to control costs and keep premiums to the minimum. Always make Flint your first call.

What Richard has been doing

As well as the above, here are some other ways in which by putting more emphasis on our own claims intervention that Richard can add value to our service:

  • He intervened and negotiated a much-reduced settlement on a claim directly with a third party; our client had agreed to settle for £1500. We actually settled for less than £500.
  • He removed £20,000 in claims from one customer's claims experience by challenging the insurers reserves (the amount they retain to cover anticipated costs). He was able to do this because of his vast experience, some of which is from an underwriting background.
  • He negotiated an additional payment of £5,000 towards a total loss settlement, which had been incorrectly calculated by insurers.
  • He ensured that a large insurer settled a total loss claim on the correct basis; they had omitted to note that the client was due the offer of a ‘new car replacement’.

Introducing Autorestore

Another claims development is the negotiation of special rates with Autorestore, the mobile repairing specialist.

What this means is a mobile repair rig either at work or home to create an on-site, fully enclosed, body shop environment. On average, repairs take between 3-4 hours; utilising various techniques depending on the surface being repaired, including specialised lamp to cure paintwork to enable same-day driving.
